Nestled between strong culture and rich history, Peter Cooper Elementary's mosaic facade reflects the colorful charm of the hearts it hugs within its walls. A vibrant and tight-knit community, it also lacks many resources for services integral to childhood development, including support of a sports program.

It’s no secret that increased sports participation has proven positive long-term effects on children's health, stress levels, prosocial behavior, academic performance, mental well-being, and other conditions that transition into adulthood. We know this from our own childhoods firsthand. And yet, Cooper's students sit in the demographic facing the largest and fastest-widening sports access gap in the country. In a school where 9 out of every 10 students are economically disadvantaged, the need becomes even more severe.

We believe every kid has the right to play, grow, create, and reconnect with each other in natural environments.

 

That's why this year we're partnering with Cooper to support their first-ever athletic program in school history, bringing 5 teams together this fall to compete with other CPS schools.
